Pro-Palestinian demonstrations have spread globally following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack in Israel, which resulted in the deaths of around 1,200 people. In response, Israeli military operations have caused over 54,000 Palestinian civilian deaths, including more than 16,500 children. Many describe the current situation as a humanitarian catastrophe and, in some cases, as an undeclared genocide.
The attacks have devastated Gaza’s infrastructure — flattening entire neighborhoods and striking hospitals, schools, refugee camps, and shelters — while also severely restricting the entry of humanitarian aid, including food, water, and medical supplies. Hunger and malnutrition are now widespread, as essential resources are deliberately blocked from reaching the population.
And the violence is still ongoing. Civilians in Gaza continue to face daily bombardments, displacement, disease, starvation, and the collapse of healthcare and basic services.
These protests aim to expose the suffering of the Palestinian people, demand an end to the violence, and call for justice and recognition of Palestinian rights. Protesters seek to awaken global consciousness and issue a cry to humanity.
On social media, millions are sharing images, videos, and firsthand accounts from Gaza, making atrocities visible that are often ignored by mainstream media.
On November 21, 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity — including the use of starvation as a method of warfare. Despite this, they remain at large, supported by countries such as the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom, which have opposed the Court’s actions.
