About me
My photographic journey began in Palermo, Sicily, where I was born in 1979. As a child, I was first exposed to photography by watching my father print images in his small darkroom. While this early experience sparked an initial interest, it wasn't until much later that my passion for photography truly ignited.
In 2007, I enrolled in a BA (hons) program in photojournalism at Swansea Metropolitan University, solidifying my commitment to the craft. My work primarily revolves around self-initiated projects and collaborations with charities that address social issues. I place a strong emphasis on ethical photography, ensuring that my work respects and accurately represents the subjects and communities I photograph. My approach is characterized by a focus on capturing the diversity of life around me.
I’m currently based in Barcelona, where I live and work as a freelance photographer.
Biografia
Sono nato a Palermo nel 1979. Il mio primo approccio con la fotografia è avvenuto quando ero ancora un bambino. Mio padre aveva una piccola camera oscura in casa nella quale da alcuni fogli bianchi faceva apparire come per magia le sue foto. Sebbene questa prima esperienza abbia suscitato un gran interesse iniziale, è stato solo molto più tardi che la mia passione per la fotografia si accende.
Per circa 10 anni ho vissuto in Galles dove ho conseguito una laurea in fotogiornalismo presso la Swansea Metropolitan University.
Ho collaborato con organizzazioni benefiche e artisti impegnati in problemi sociali come la tossicodipendenza e l'alcolismo. Pongo una forte enfasi sulla fotografia etica, assicurandomi che il mio lavoro rispetti e rappresenti accuratamente i soggetti e le comunità che fotografo. Il mio approccio è caratterizzato principalmente dalla voglia di sapere di più e di raccontare su un particolare tema o soggetto.
Attualmente vivo a Barcellona in Spagna, dove lavoro come fotografo freelance.
