At Saint Mary’s Church in Swansea, the bell tower is run by a group of senior people, who regularly gather in the evening to practice bell's ringing. For them, the bell tower is not just a place to ring the bells, but also a space to meet, socialize, and feel like an important part of the Christian community. The sound of the bells, which carries for several kilometers, resonates throughout the city. The church's bell tower houses eight bells, the heaviest of which is tuned to an E note and weighs 1,049.2 kilograms. Swansea, Wales (2009) |
