Fieno & Popcorn
Since I was a child the amazing world of the circus has always fascinated me with all those lights, clowns and breath-taking acrobats surrounded by that strong smell of popcorn and hay. In a so-fast changing world, virtual entertainment, economic crisis and animal rights awareness are making this lifestyle slowly disappearing.
Fieno & Popcorn is a documentary about one of the last remaining circuses with wild animals in Europe. I started this project in 2013 in Apulia, where I followed this circus for a period of six months. The images were deliberately edited in black and white in order to give the story a powerful, romantic and nostalgic narrative contradicting with the colorful and carefree idea that people usually have about circus life.
